FOUNDER OF SCIENCE CODONS
"As a researcher in biotechnology, I always found it frustrating when essential bioinformatics tools were locked behind paywalls or simply outdated. I built Science Codons to change that. My goal is to provide fast, reliable, and 100% free scientific tools that researchers and students can depend on for their daily work."
A Transparent Note on Ads & Funding
Our mission has always been to provide researchers with fast, reliable, and completely free access to premium scientific tools. However, running and upgrading high-performance servers for intensive computational tasks is incredibly expensive.
As a self-funded project with no corporate sponsors, we tried to rely strictly on community donations for our first two years. Unfortunately, the support simply wasn't enough to cover the growing infrastructure costs. Reluctantly, and against our core preference, we had to introduce advertisements to the platform.
We hope to eventually secure a dedicated sponsor so we can remove ads entirely. Until then, if you find our tools valuable and have the financial means, please consider supporting us with a monthly donation. Your direct support reduces our reliance on ads and helps keep science open and accessible.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use results in publications?
Yes, absolutely! Citing our tools is a fantastic way to support us and introduce our free platform to other researchers. To make it incredibly easy, we built the Ultimate Citation Generator. Simply paste the URL of the tool you used into the generator, and you can instantly export the citation in various formats and CSL styles.
Is my sequence data stored on your servers?
Absolutely not. We prioritize your data privacy. Many tools run entirely in your browser (client-side). For complex file conversions that require our secure servers, your data is processed in memory and automatically deleted immediately after the result is generated. We keep zero logs of your biological data.
When was Science Codons founded?
The Science Codons project was officially launched in 2022. Since day one, our mission has been to democratize bioinformatics by removing paywalls and complex software installations. Over the years, thanks to the continuous feedback and support from our amazing community of global researchers, we have steadily expanded our suite of tools and upgraded our infrastructure.
How do I report a bug or suggest a feature?
We constantly strive to provide flawless tools. If you encounter any bugs, unexpected results, or have an idea for a new calculator, please let us know! You can easily report issues or share your suggestions via our Contact Page. Your feedback is highly appreciated and helps us build a better platform for the community.
Are there any hidden fees or premium subscriptions?
Absolutely not. Our core mission is to democratize science. Based on our strict policies, we will never pivot to a premium subscription model. We are committed to ensuring that these tools remain 100% free and accessible to researchers and students in every country across the globe, without any paywalls or hidden fees.
However, you can directly help us build our next ambitious open-access projects through donations. With your financial support, our upcoming goals include developing highly intensive computational platforms—such as free Molecular Docking and Molecular Dynamics (MD) simulations up to 100ns—to give back even more to the global research community!
