Apoptosis is a physiological and natural process that occurs thousands of times daily in our body and leads to the programmed death of cells. Cell death through apoptosis does not cause inflammation because only a specific and controlled group of cells undergoes cell death in apoptosis and does not cause damage to tissues and surrounding cells.
In apoptosis, dead cell fragments, which are apoptotic bodies, are removed by phagocytic cells to prevent further damage. Apoptosis is accompanied by energy consumption, while necrosis does not require energy. This shows that apoptosis is an active process, unlike necrosis, and requires energy. Necrosis causes cell swelling, and apoptosis causes cell wrinkling. In cell death through necrosis, we witness the creation of inflammation and the death of various types of cells following it.
